The new "Captain America" comic released this week, "Captain America: Steve Rogers #1," reveals that the beloved superhero is actually serving as an agent for Hydra, a fascist organization with overt Nazi parallels that Captain America has been fighting since its origins.
This news immediately threw the comic world into disarray, and prompted the hashtag #SayNoTOHYDRACap. The writer, Nick Spencer, has reportedly even received death threats.
How are Marvel fans discussing this news? The Takeaway went to Carmine Street Comics in New York City's West Village to find out. The owner, Jon Gorga, says that since the comic's origins, Captain America has been overtly political, and has attempted to reflect the political moment of the day.
