Director Leah Wolchok and New Yorker cartoon editor Bob Mankoff reveal the process behind the single panel cartoons that have become magazine’s signature. Wolchok’s documentary, “Very Semi-Serious: A Partially Thorough Portrait of New Yorker Cartoonists,” follows Mankoff as he sifts through hundreds of submissions and pitches every week to bring readers a carefully curated selection of work. Debuts on HBO December 14.
