On Sunday, hundreds of newspapers across the country will feature a 16-page insert of classic comic strips.
The insert is being published in honor of the 100th anniversary of King Features Syndicate, a company that syndicates beloved comics such as Blondie, which first appeared in 1930, and Beetle Bailey, which started in 1950. Strips from the '90s like Mutts and Zits will also claim a share of the comic insert.
Josh Fruhlinger, the creator of The Comics Curmudgeon, an online community and comic archive, joined The Takeaway to discuss his relationship with comic strips, and why we're experiencing a resurgence in the lost newspaper entertainment.
